Our beloved Judge Sanford "Sammy" Jones

Judge Jones worked tirelessly to mend the lives of children and their families whose problems brought them before Fulton County Juvenile Court. In every case over which Judge Jones presided, in his every decision, he always kept the needs—great and small—of the child first. The Judge Jones Memorial Playground Fund at the Juvenile Justice Fund has been established to fulfill his longstanding wish to erect an outdoor play space in the courtyard nestled within the court’s grounds.

With help from the community, the plans for a Judge Jones Memorial Playground will become a reality. Upon its completion, through the joy that is expressed in play, Judge Jones’ love for the children the court served will be experienced forever in this space that he cherished.

Judge Sanford Jones (1952-2009)

It has only been a short time since our community was devastated and our hearts were forever broken when The Honorable Sanford Jones, our beloved “Sammy” - died tragically in a small plane crash on May 15, 2009. He was a Marshal, Vice Chief Clerk of Magistrate Court, Magistrate, Court Administrator and Chief Clerk of State Court, District Court Administrator, Superior Court Administrator, Juvenile Court Presiding Judge and at his best as Chief Judge of the Juvenile Court.
